Level Up English

Your data, explained clearly

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Level Up English handles, why it is used, when it may be visible to others and the choices available to you.

Privacy at a glance

Your microphone is used only during speaking practice. Level Up English does not store your raw voice recordings. You can delete your account from inside the app.

Effective date: September 28, 2026  ·  Last updated: September 28, 2026

This Privacy Policy applies to the Level Up English mobile application and its related support services (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described below.

1. Information we handle

Account and identifiers

The app creates a Firebase account identifier so learning progress can be saved and synced. Accounts begin anonymously. If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple and Firebase may provide and process your Apple account identifier, name and email address according to your Apple sharing choices.

Learning activity and progress

We process information required to provide the learning experience, including completed lessons, exercise results, scores, XP, streaks, review history, learning objectives, daily goals, language preferences and related timestamps.

League profile and community safety

If you use the global league, the following may be visible to other learners: your chosen display name, country flag, preset avatar, XP, streak and course level. We also process blocked-user selections and reports you submit, including the selected reason and optional report details, to prevent abuse and moderate the league.

Speech and microphone data

Speaking exercises use Apple’s Speech Recognition services to turn speech into text and provide practice feedback. Audio is processed during the exercise. Level Up English does not upload or retain raw voice recordings as profile or learning content. Apple’s processing is governed by Apple’s own terms and privacy practices.

Purchases

Premium purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through StoreKit. We receive entitlement information needed to unlock Premium features, but we do not receive or store your full payment card details.

Advertising, consent and technical data

When advertising is enabled, Google Mobile Ads and the User Messaging Platform may process consent choices, device or app identifiers, IP-derived approximate location, ad interactions, performance information and diagnostic data to deliver ads, measure performance, prevent fraud and comply with consent requirements. The exact processing may depend on your region and privacy choices.

Device integrity and service metadata

Firebase services may process authentication identifiers, Firebase user-agent information, function invocation metadata such as function name and IP address, and App Check attestation information. These are used to authenticate requests, protect the Service from abuse and keep cloud features reliable.

2. How we use information

We use information for the following purposes:

3. When information is shared

We do not sell your personal information. We disclose information only as needed to operate the Service, comply with law, protect users or honour your instructions.

Service provider Purpose Information involved
Google Firebase Authentication, cloud storage, database sync, callable functions and app integrity Account identifiers, learning progress, profile and preference data, request metadata and integrity signals
Apple Sign in with Apple, speech recognition, subscriptions and platform services Authentication data you choose to share, speech input, purchase entitlement and device-service data
Google Mobile Ads Consent management, ad delivery, measurement, diagnostics and fraud prevention Consent choices, identifiers, approximate location, ad interactions and technical data where advertising is enabled

Your league display name, country flag, preset avatar, XP, streak and level may be displayed publicly to other Level Up English learners. Do not use a name you do not want others to see.

4. Data retention

We retain account and learning information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain security, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. Local settings may remain on your device until you remove the app or clear its data. Information may persist temporarily in encrypted backups before routine deletion.

5. Your choices and controls

6. Account deletion

Deleting your account removes the associated Firebase authentication account, cloud learning progress, user preferences, league profile, award state, block lists and moderation reports associated with or targeting the account. Deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription; subscriptions must be managed separately through Apple.

7. Security

We use safeguards intended to protect information, including authenticated access, owner-scoped database rules, encrypted network connections and Firebase App Check. No system can guarantee absolute security, so you should also protect access to your device and Apple Account.

8. International processing

Service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where required, information is handled using safeguards provided by applicable law and the relevant service provider agreements.

9. Children’s privacy

The Service is an educational product and is not intended to request unnecessary personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information without appropriate permission may contact us through the support page to request review or deletion.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the Service, legal requirements or data practices change. The current version will remain available at this URL, and the effective date above will be updated when material changes are made.

11. Contact and privacy requests

For privacy questions, data requests or support, visit the official Level Up English support page. Please do not include passwords, payment card information or other unnecessary sensitive information in a support request.
